December 09 - Countryside Alliance Poll
In a poll undertaken amongst a nationally representative sample of those living throughout England and Wales, more than one in two (57%) believe that the current Hunting Act legislation is not working
When asked to consider the ban on Hunting, 45% would like it to remain in place while 19% want the next government to repeal the act, with a further 30% wanting the Government to allow MPs a free vote in the House of Commons.
With an eye on the election next year, hunting is not a main concern for voters. Voters are significantly more likely to be influenced in their vote by learning of a candidate's/parties position on the economy, the NHS and crime than their views and policies on fox hunting.
The poll was undertaken via telephone amongst a representative sample of 905 adults throughout England and Wales Dec 18th-20th 2009.
