our people

  • Gordon Heald - Chairman

Gordon’s lighter side really deserves a website of its own but until this is available we might start with his love of good food. Even those merely passing ORB’s offices are likely to receive a lunch invitation, so clients really get the full treatment. Not every lunch goes to plan though and at our last Christmas party Gordon lost his lobster – this may currently be roaming the northern parts of France or south east London (if found please call 020 7611 5270). Gordon also loves sailing - despite being unable to swim and a long history of crashes in the good ship “Orbital”. Lymington is the harbour to avoid. We could go on but to avoid further embarrassment let’s leave it there shall we?

  • Johnny Heald - Managing Director

The “Golden Boy” of the ORB office, Johnny harbours a passion for cricket. While some might say the next Flintoff, others more accurately say the new Flintstone. With two beautiful children – Joshua and Rosie – and lovely wife Rachel to go home to every night you can see why Johnny doesn’t conduct focus groups in Kazakhstan and Bulgaria as often as he used to.

  • Allan Hyde - Director

A staunch QPR fan, Allan has learnt the value of deferred gratification. After 32 long years they are yet to win anything. He takes solace in running and music. The former has seen him complete both the Great North and Great South Runs and even at 40+ regularly attends concerts by ‘hip’ new bands. In his humble opinion the best gigs ever are: Pulp (Glastonbury), Prince (Wembley) and Primal Scream (various). This love of music (but thankfully not the QPR thing) has passed onto his son Ben who is partial to a bit of Fat Boy Slim and Nick Drake.

  • Richard Hooper - Associate Director

Richard, aka “Bald Eagle”, is the office Clark Kent. While appearing quite normal Richard harbours a passion for Latvian passenger-train driving and, quite possibly, other bizarre hobbies for which he is equally unqualified. Our most talented Spanish-speaking colleague, Richard spent six months in Guatemala.

  • Sarah Oliver - Associate Director

“Northern lass” Sarah is at one with mother earth; she spends her weekends perfecting her garden and her desk is almost constantly adorned with flowers sent from her many admirers. Sarah is the proud mother of two cats, Lola and Elliot, and her favourite pastimes include munching on a never-ending supply of carrots and drinking herbal tea. Sarah has lived in London for a while and although she does her best to embrace Southern culture by sampling international cuisines in fine restaurants, she still knows how to make a "right proper brew". She is also a self-acclaimed Queen of the Bargain Hunters and can’t resist spending her lunch breaks searching out the cheapest package holidays to sunnier climates.

  • Michael Rogers - CATI Manager

The office stylist, Michael loves to give the ladies of ORB the hints that he picked up from his days as a hairdresser. An ex-resident in Brazil, Michael’s caipirinha drinking days are now over, and he has taken up residence in Islington, where he spends his weekends seeing every single film that he possibly can on the big screen. Despite being an avid gym-goer, Bolton boy Michael really can’t resist a packet of salt and vinegar crisps.
